Deactivation/ Moving
Deactivate license i.e. to use jBEAM on another computer.
Because moving a license always involves deactivating it on one computer and activating it on the other, we only describe the deactivation in this section and activation has been already described here: Activation
The license container is sensitive to changes in hardware or virtual machine settings. Before any hardware replacement, VM migration, or system update, temporary deactivate your license to avoid container corruption and potential license loss.
After applying the hardware changes, you can safely reactivate your license.
Use Online Deactivation via the Kistler License Portal when the machine has internet access; use Offline Deactivation (request/response files via the portal) when it doesn’t. After deactivation, activate the license on the target system (see Activation).
Since the process varies significantly depending on whether the computer is connected to the internet or not, we have outlined this in two separate articles.
- Online Deactivation — Release license from local computer to allow activation on another with internet connection.
- Offline Deactivation — Release license from a computer having no internet connection. To allow activation on another.
