License Overview
This page provides an short overview of the key components involved in managing jBEAM and other Kistler software licenses: These are the Kistler License Portal and the CodeMeter Control Center. Additionaly it explains the different license types available, and the support page.
Kistler License Portal
URL: https://software-licenses.kistler.com/
The Kistler License Portal is your central website for managing licenses for jBEAM and other Kistler software products. This portal allows you to activate, update, and return licenses securely.
The portal shows on which computer each license is currently activated, giving you full transparency over your license usage. All license operations—such as activation, updating, and returning — are all performed securely through the portal.
The License Portal website works closely with the locally installed CodeMeter Control Center.
CodeMeter Control Center
The CodeMeter Control Center is the application on the local computer that hosts the license container Kistler Software VM, which contains the licenses for jBEAM and other Kistler software products.
Activating a license means, to transfer it from the Kistler License Portal to the local computer’s CodeMeter Control Center - and a receipt is confirmed so that no other computer can use or return this license.
The CodeMeter Control Center is installed by default with jBEAM.
By the way, for a Network License Server installation, the server computer only needs this CodeMeter Control Center application and no jBEAM installed. https://kistlergroup.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JBEAM/pages/728498177
License Types
Single-User License
A Single-User License allows one individual to use the software on a single device. This type of license is ideal for personal users or small businesses that require software for individual tasks.

Floating License
A Floating License is specifically designed for organizations with multiple users who do not need simultaneous access to the software. This licensing model allows a set number of users to share the software across various devices. It requires installation of a Network License Server to distribute the Floating Licenses with the connected clients.
Yes, using a Network License Server requires client connectivity. But clients can borrow licenses for temporary offline use. (up to 30 days)

Dongle License
A Dongle License uses a physical USB key that must be plugged into the computer running jBEAM. The license is stored directly on the dongle, allowing flexible use on different machines — as long as the dongle is connected.
This makes it ideal for mobile or offline setups where internet access or permanent activation is not available.
